The New JC In Town...

For those of you who are not watching John from Cincinnati on HBO yet, stop reading and start watching. This maybe one of the most brilliant shows I have ever seen. It's creator and Executive Producer is David Milch from "Deadwood" fame, so you know it's good. But let 's not stop there. When you tune in the first thing you see is possibly the most brilliant opening credit's scene since Tony woke up this morning and rolled through North Jersey. Plus it's set to the killer tune "Johnny Appleseed" by Joe Strummer (of The Clash).

Once the show starts it just gets better. The character's are deep and wide from stalwart actors like Ed O'Neil (nee Al Bundy) and Luke Perry (nee spoiled rich kid) to new comers like female surf star Keala Kennelly and John himself Austin Nichols. The only low spot comes in the 3rd Generation Yost family surfer Shawn playes by Greyson Fletcher. Add to this other faces you've seen before like Luiz Guzman and Willie Garson ( Super gay dude on "Sex in the City") and you have the makings for a great show. The plot is so simple it's not. Three generations of Yost men are trying to surf there way through troubled times when John comes along and somehow makes it all better.

Supposedly there is some connection between John from Cincinnati and the other big JC, but this does not come through until episode 6 and in a very confusing half dream/ half real scene. With all the hype that comes with being a new show to HBO's stellar Sunday lineup, this is the only new show that i think is really living up to it. Definitely a winner. unfortunately this means it'll probably get canceled. Check it out before it does Sundays at 9PM. Thank me later...
