If there are two things I like in my music it's indie DIY spirit and creativity, and I want to shake my ass. Chromeo and their electro contemporaries give me the best of both worlds. The new Chromeo album "Fancy Footwork" is like a Popsicle on a hot summer day, if that Popsicle was awesome flavored. From the super cool "Intro" to the smooth as silk ender "100%" Chromeo keeps it rockin. Dave One and Pee Thug are not new to the game. Their first album "She's In Control" was fun and showed promise, "Fancy Footwork" delivers on that promise. I saw them live last summer at the Vice curated Intonation. It was ok but not great, I think a lot of that however is owed to the venue. A summer concert in a park is not their scene, they seem much more at home in a slick club with a light up dance floor. Metro's Smart Bar would have been a much better choice. That being said I will be grooving this album all summer to be sure. The only downside is that I'm sure it sounds better with robot ears.

Warning! Land Snark Invades The D™
That's right folks... for the next couple of weeks your favorite Snark is setting up shop in Detroit Rock City. The same city that has given y'all such gifts as The White Stripes, MC5, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, The Von Bondies, Bob Segar, and of course The Nuge! Everyone in the D beware, snarks are on the loose, especially Uncle Grambo over at Whatevs.org... oh yeah the Snark's gunning for you sir.
While exploring this new terrain I have learned valuable things and I am beginning to understand why most people try to stay the hell out of this town. First off, there are no left turns... ok, maybe some, but they are few and far between. This makes getting around a serious pain in the ass. Second, I have now been to 8 Mile... and you know what, it looked pretty Posh Spice to me. Maybe Mr. Mathers is from the other side of the "Tracks", but I didn't see any trains. And Third, Dearborn has two things Ford Motor Company and Muslims. Looks like Georgie was right. While we slacked off on the war on terror, the bastards swam over here and gave us the Taurus. Smart thinking assholes, American car mediocrity, now that's Terror!
Now I'm sure The D™ isn't all bad, but so far I am unimpressed. If any of you faithful SnarkHeads have any suggestions of places for the Land Snark to hit up, please drop it in the comment box and a full review will come your way. Until next time... stay mean people... oh wait I mean Fight The Power, oh fuck, whatever...

The New JC In Town...
For those of you who are not watching John from Cincinnati on HBO yet, stop reading and start watching. This maybe one of the most brilliant shows I have ever seen. It's creator and Executive Producer is David Milch from "Deadwood" fame, so you know it's good. But let 's not stop there. When you tune in the first thing you see is possibly the most brilliant opening credit's scene since Tony woke up this morning and rolled through North Jersey. Plus it's set to the killer tune "Johnny Appleseed" by Joe Strummer (of The Clash).
Once the show starts it just gets better. The character's are deep and wide from stalwart actors like Ed O'Neil (nee Al Bundy) and Luke Perry (nee spoiled rich kid) to new comers like female surf star Keala Kennelly and John himself Austin Nichols. The only low spot comes in the 3rd Generation Yost family surfer Shawn playes by Greyson Fletcher. Add to this other faces you've seen before like Luiz Guzman and Willie Garson ( Super gay dude on "Sex in the City") and you have the makings for a great show. The plot is so simple it's not. Three generations of Yost men are trying to surf there way through troubled times when John comes along and somehow makes it all better.
Supposedly there is some connection between John from Cincinnati and the other big JC, but this does not come through until episode 6 and in a very confusing half dream/ half real scene. With all the hype that comes with being a new show to HBO's stellar Sunday lineup, this is the only new show that i think is really living up to it. Definitely a winner. unfortunately this means it'll probably get canceled. Check it out before it does Sundays at 9PM. Thank me later...

Harry Potter 7.0
As you all know Harry Potter 7.0 made it's debut on Friday at 12:00 Midnight on Friday. I decided I was going to be there when it happened. At 10:00 PM my brothers and I met up with two of there friends at Borders in Castleton for the "Grand Hollows Ball" Extravaganza. The extravaganza consisted of little kids coloring and making wizard's hats out of construction paper and the forming of very, very long lines combined with both children and adults sporting various wizard and witch costumes, some good, some very, very bad.. The twins' friends wanted to tail gate in the parking lot. I found this to be an extremely bad idea especially with them being underage. At this point my brother HT and I decided to make our way across the parking lot to BW3's and get a couple of beers to wait out the madness until midnight.
At 11:30 we went back. the lines now much, much longer, and no change of getting the book before 1:30AM. At this point we decide to wait it out. Midnight comes and goes. The lines barely move. HT now says... Fuck this, let's go to Walmart. We decide t wait it out for 3 more minutes. At this point we are convinced this has been a terrible idea and we should check out Walmart. We walk in and buy the book in 4 minutes. 1 hour and 26 minutes sooner than we would have had it.
I think there are two very important lessons here. The first is Walmart is your friend. The second is there is no reason, absolutely no reason to buy a book at midnight. You have better shit to do. That being said I am two hundred pages into it and enjoying it greatly. For those of you who are in Indy feel free to join my wife and I next Sunday at the Big Car Gallery to check out the wizard rock of Harry and the Potters. Should be a magically delicious good time.

An Introduction
After some much needed time off I am back to blogging. I say this every once in a while, however this time I may actually do it. For a while I thought I had run out of things to say, blogging was all the rage and in a effort not to be derivative, I stopped. This led to a problem.
You see, dear reader, I enjoy being snarky, making snide and usually obscure pop culture references, and irony (dramatic, not fashion). I make a lot of comments that I think are funny but most people don't get. This makes me sound like a dick and usually pretentious, which I may in fact be. This is a unintended by-product of being self-aware to the point of being neurotic combined with a deep love of all things pop and a fantastic memory. In an effort to share my wit and maybe even spark some dangerous conversation I have decided to vent here.
I plan to cover everything from why the album I bought yesterday is better than what you like to why "The Wizard of OZ" is over-rated and played out. My goal is to be original and hopefully a decent read. Please tune in, if I haven't pissed you off yet, I'm sure it's just a matter of time...
